DLP® Light Engine Repair And Recycling
The high cost of new DLP® Light Engine replacement in the Consumer Electronic Industry often, with labor to trouble shoot and replace these engines, with nearly the cost of the initial investment in purchasing a new product. Manufacturers are placed in a difficult position of purchasing literally thousands of new light engines very early and often prior to final model production in order to support end of life product repair support for the entire product life cycle, which is typically seven (7) years in the CE Industry. Faced with this challenge, Professional Service Solutions (PSS) in conjunction with one of its business associates, Hong Video Technology (HVT) have worked together to develop a repair and recycling solution to support manufacturers of this technology in the Consumer Electronics and Industrial segments of the industry. PSS works closely with HVT to offer cost effective repair and recycling services to the industry manufacturers, enabling manufacturers to offer ìlike newî recycled light engines at a fraction of the cost of a new engine for out of warranty light engine replacement. ìRecycling of defective DLP® Light Engines not only provides a cost effective method for manufacturers to insure end of life support for these products, but also provides a reasonably cost repair option for the consumer and the independent servicers that support industry manufacturers with repair optionsî, states Chris Fabian, President of Professional Service Solutions. Fabian insists that ìRecycling of Digital Light Engines is a win/win/win scenario for the manufacturer, who can minimize final buys of new light engines in their inventory, a win for the independent service community who can now replace a defective light engine at a reasonable cost and still make a profit, and a win for the consumer who first purchased the product and now needs a reasonable cost repair. Besides, recycling of defective light engines is good for the environment, a factor that all of us need to be concerned with in the Consumer Electronics Industryî.
HVT is ready to expand its DLP® Light Engine repair and recycling operations to accommodate all major DLP® Light Engines used in both front-projection and rear-projection products. HVT has already recycled over 10,000 DLP® light engines with that number growing exponentially every month.
ìHVT has the capability to service DLP® Light Engines for all major OEMs and manufacturers. Consumers who need service for a DLP® set should contact their manufacturer or dealer where the set was purchased as HVT is committed to work directly and closely with any manufacturer or OEM who requires cost effective support with quick turn times and high yieldsî, said Fabian.

To ensure HVT can deliver the expected cost savings and turn times, HVT performs a detailed feasibility study on each DLP® Light Engine model prior to accepting the model for repair and recycling. For DLP® Light Engine models that have not had prior analysis, you must provide to HVT:
- Limited consignment of a virgin light engine that meets all manufacturing design specifications
- Five defective light engines
- OEM technical information (parts availability, specialized engine technology data, and on-site technician training) as necessary from the OEM or manufacturer
